Job Description
What’s On Offer For You
Competitive salary + allowances, plus great benefits (e.g. insurance, training and promotion pathways).
Join a team committed to powering Aotearoa with safety, reliability and innovation.
A supportive, safety‑first culture where your contribution matters and growth is encouraged.
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Cable Jointer to join a trusted New Zealand energy and network services provider supporting customers across the Central North Island.
You’ll be part of a high-performing field team responsible for the safe installation, maintenance, and repair of low and high-voltage underground power cables across network, industrial, and commercial environments. This is a hands-on role requiring technical precision, a strong safety mindset, and pride in delivering quality work that keeps communities connected.
If you’re a qualified jointer who enjoys variety, teamwork, and working outdoors in a supportive, safety-focused environment, this is an excellent opportunity to build your career in a forward-thinking utility organisation.
What You’ll Do
Carry out LV and HV cable jointing, terminations, and fault repairs to industry and network standards
Install and connect underground power systems, including new customer connections and network upgrades
Read and interpret plans, drawings, and cable schedules
Ensure all work meets safety, quality, and compliance requirements
Work collaboratively with line mechanics, electricians, and supervisors to complete projects safely and efficiently
Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used
Participate in on-call and after-hours fault response rosters as required
What You’ll Bring
Qualified Cable Jointer with relevant trade certification (EWRB registration preferred)
Proven experience in LV/HV underground jointing and termination
Knowledge of distribution network standards and safe work practices
Current NZ Class 1 Driver’s Licence (Class 2 an advantage)
Commitment to health, safety, and environmental best practice
Ability to read drawings, follow procedures, and deliver quality workmanship
Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
Physically fit and willing to work in the field environment year-round
To Apply
If you’re a motivated Cable Jointer looking for your next opportunity in the energy and utilities sector, we’d love to hear from you.
