About Progressive Black Canadian Network (PBCN)

The Progressive Black Canadian Network (PBCN) empowers and connects Black communities, including newcomers across Canada through education, mentorship and networking with the purpose of professional advancement. By equipping Black Canadians with knowledge, skills, and networks, PBCN aims to strengthen their ability to thrive and contribute meaningfully to Canada’s social, cultural, and economic landscape.

Position Summary

The Program Coordinator plays a key role in delivering high-quality programs and events that support Black professionals, newcomers, youth, and community members in Calgary. This position is responsible for coordinating workshops, networking events, leadership initiatives, and community engagement activities while ensuring strong administrative systems, stakeholder communication, and program reporting.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, community-oriented, and experienced in nonprofit program delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Program Coordination and Delivery

Coordinate and execute workshops, networking events, mentorship programs, and community initiatives in Calgary
Manage event logistics including venue booking, registration, speaker coordination, materials preparation, and on-site support
Maintain program calendars and ensure timelines and deliverables are met
Support participant intake, communication, and follow-up
Community Engagement and Partnerships

Build and maintain relationships with local community organizations, employers, and partners
Represent PBCN at community meetings and events
Support outreach efforts to increase program participation
Assist in developing collaborative initiatives with external stakeholders
Administration and Reporting

Maintain accurate participant records and program documentation
Track program outcomes and performance indicators
Prepare reports for funders, leadership, and the Board as required
Support grant application preparation and reporting requirements
Monitor program budgets and expenses in collaboration with leadership
Communications Support

Assist in promoting programs through social media, newsletters, and community outreach
Respond to inquiries from participants, partners, and stakeholders
Support development of presentations and promotional materials
Qualifications and Experience

2 to 3 years of experience in program coordination, nonprofit administration, community development, or a related field
Post-secondary education in social sciences, nonprofit management, public administration, or related discipline preferred
Demonstrated experience organizing events and managing logistics
Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
Experience working with diverse communities, including newcomers and equity-deserving groups
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with digital tools for communication and event management
Knowledge of Calgary community networks and Alberta funding environments is an asset.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 10 months

Pay: $18.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 35 per week

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Calgary, AB (T2T)
