Job Description

We are seeking a confident, capable, and dog-loving professional to join our team at our Dog Day Stay based in Ellerslie. This is a hybrid role combining hands-on dog care with administrative and office support responsibilities on-site.

This is a casual position for between 10-15 hours per week. This would suit a person wanting flexible work hours and shorter shifts to fit in with their study/life situation. We operate Monday to Friday between 7:00am and 6:00pm (closed weekends and public holidays).

About the role:

We are a passionate, happy and professional team looking for a like-minded individual with a positive, can-do attitude and excellent client-facing skills. This hybrid position is split between active supervision of dogs in our daycare environment and supporting administrative functions within the business.

Dog Handler Responsibilities:

Supervising and engaging with groups of dogs to ensure a safe, structured, and enriching daycare experience.
Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across play and rest areas.
Assisting with additional services including dog walking, bathing, and drying as required.
Working collaboratively with the daycare team to complete daily operational tasks efficiently.
Office & Administration Support:

Assisting the Office Manager with general administrative duties.
Supporting customer service enquiries and client communications.
Ensuring accurate record-keeping and maintaining organised systems.
About you:

Reliable, responsible, and professional individual who enjoys working at a good pace.
Physically fit, able to walk and stand on your feet for long periods of time, and comfortable with managing large and high-energy dogs.
Not afraid of the mucking in and cleaning that comes along with caring for animals.
Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills and is confident using computer systems.
Has the legal right to work in NZ and is fluent in English.
Previous professional experience with dogs would be highly advantageous in this role, but full training will take place regardless of background.
Retail sales, customer service and administrative experience would also be considered highly advantageous.
If this sounds like a good fit for you and you can start with us sometime within the next month or so, then please send your current CV and cover letter to:
