Are you looking for a permanent, full‑time career in Western Australia with the opportunity to receive world‑class international training? This role is a permanent position based in WA, with an initial short-term deployment to the United States for specialised training.

An exciting career awaits you at ASC, Australia's submarine company - the sustainer of Australia's conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines in the AUKUS partnership. To support this new and significant capability, we are seeking skilled individuals to join ASC in WA and undertake short-term, world‑leading training in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Successful candidates will commence in a permanent role at ASC, then deploy to Hawaii for approximately 6–8 months of training, with potential to start at ASC in WA earlier depending on availability. Following the training period, you will return to WA and continue in your full‑time position as part of our growing and highly skilled workforce.

Responsibilities

In the role of Training/L&D Specialist (Production), your responsibilities are:

Understand and interpret production workflows, processes, and constraints.
work closely with production and training teams to identify training needs aligned with operational requirements, while reviewing U.S. training approaches and adapting best practices to the Australian context
Design and maintain training programs that reflect real-world production conditions.
Ensure training facilities, tools, and simulations replicate operational standards.
Administer and optimise training management software (e.g., LMS, scheduling tools).
Generate reports and analytics to track training compliance and effectiveness.
Liaise with production managers, trainers, and technical specialists to ensure alignment.
Provide guidance on integrating new technologies or processes into training programs.

Eligibility Criteria

The successful applicant must possess:

Australian Citizenship
An ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence clearance
Trade-qualified or hands-on technical experience in a production setting.
Strong understanding of production environments and operational workflows.
Experience managing or using training management software systems.
Ability to translate technical requirements into practical training solutions.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to write and interpret complex technical documentation with clarity and accuracy
Experienced in translating complex technical information and analysing data to identify trends and actionable outcomes

Additional Details

During deployment, you will receive on the job training combined with instructor led classroom training. This training program and work is carried out in accordance with company and US Navy processes and procedures.

At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia (WA) to carry out the planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines. Repatriation to WA is non-negotiable, so please consider this when applying.

Please note: This is a Civilian role and recruitment processes will differ from those undertaken in Active Service Defence recruitment.
