At Whānau Āwhina Plunket, we support tamariki and whānau across Aotearoa during the first 1000 days of life. Through our Education in Schools (EiS) team, we extend our impact by providing NZQA-aligned programmes, micro-credentials and accessible learning resources to schools, community providers, and those who care for children.
We’re looking for a creative, detail-driven Curriculum and Learning Experience Writer to design high-quality, culturally responsive learning and assessment materials that uplift the capability of those caring for pēpi and tamariki on a fixed term 0.6 FTE (24 hours) basis, hours can be worked 3 days or across school hours.

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
As a pivotal member of the EiS team, you’ll design, develop and moderate engaging assessed and non-assessed learning programmes aligned to NZQA standards.
In this role, you will:
Develop innovative, learner-centred curriculum resources including student workbooks, assessments, teacher guides and digital materials
Design NZQA-aligned assessments that meet unit standard CMR requirements
Lead unit standard renewals and manage approval processes through NZQA
Prepare materials for pre-assessment moderation and incorporate feedback
Modernise and enhance existing learning resources using technology and inclusive design principles
Ensure all content reflects current Plunket, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education guidance
Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure clinical and cultural accuracy
Support educator induction and professional development workshops
Assist with compliance monitoring, reporting and External Education Review preparation
This is a role where creativity meets rigour — balancing engaging learning design with strong compliance and quality standards.
He kōrero mōu | About you
You’re an experienced curriculum designer who combines innovation with precision. You understand how to design for diverse learners — including those with low literacy or additional learning needs — and can translate complex information into accessible, practical resources.
You will bring:
5+ years’ experience designing engaging learning programmes and resources
At least 2 years’ NZQA-aligned curriculum writing experience, including assessment design
Experience working in community settings such as ECE, parenting education, or child health
Strong understanding of the NZ secondary school education context
Experience within a PTE or similar education provider (desirable)
Advanced capability in MS Office, PowerPoint, Canva, online learning platforms and emerging AI tools
Exceptional attention to detail and strong organisational skills
