The Opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

We are seeking applications for an Evaluative/visiting Lecturer to work in the Bachelor of Education (Primary) and Master of Teaching and Learning (Primary) programmes. This is a contract position to visit, support and evaluate student teachers on practicum placements. Applicants should state their experience in mentoring as senior teachers and knowledge of the appropriate sector in Aotearoa New Zealand. Ability to speak Te Reo Māori, Samoan or Tongan language is an advantage.

You will bring an open, engaging, and collaborative approach, with the flexibility to respond to changing requirements, and actively contribute to a positive and collegial environment. You will demonstrate cultural humility, awareness, and respect when engaging with indigenous peoples and culturally diverse communities. Experience supporting indigenous, equity, or inclusion focused initiatives is highly desirable.

Please note that current teacher registration and a full practising certificate with the Teaching Council of New Zealand is mandatory. The successful applicants will be required to travel across Auckland to visit students at their practicum school.

The role would suit a recently retired middle or senior leader, teachers who are working part-time and teacher educators who have previous experience in Initial Teacher Education. We are unable to accept applications from teachers who are working full-time in schools.
