About Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre OSHC
We are a non-for-profit out of school hours care service that offer before and after school care and vacation care at Crown Street Public School to 149 children. We work closely with our families and local community to offer high quality care and pride ourselves on having a close knit and supportive team of educators.
About the role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) Educator to join our team as a casual staff member, working After School Care (ASC) shifts, Monday to Friday and Before School Care, on occasion as required. As an OSHC Educator, you will be responsible for engaging directly with children in a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment outside of school hours. Preference will be given to educators with experience in OSHC and working with children.
Key Responsibilities:
Child Supervision: Supervise children in a caring and supportive manner, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times during before and after school hours.
Educational Program Delivery: Implement engaging and age-appropriate activities that promote children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. This may include arts and crafts, sports, games, and educational activities.
Behaviour Management: Effectively manage and address behavioural issues that may arise, utilising positive reinforcement techniques and conflict resolution strategies to maintain a harmonious environment.
Communication: Maintain open and positive communication with children, parents, and colleagues, providing regular updates on children's progress, behaviour, and any concerns that may arise.
Health and Safety: Adhere to all health and safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of the OSHC facilities and equipment. Administer first aid (if qualified) when necessary and respond appropriately to incidents.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other OSHC Educators and staff members to plan and coordinate activities, share resources, and contribute to the overall success of the program.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and observations, and assist in the preparation of reports and documentation as required.
Requirements:
Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain.
Completed or working towards ACECQA approved Diploma or Certificate is preferred but not essential.
First Aid (or willing to obtain).
Current Child Protection certificate (or willing to obtain).
National Child Safety Training - available free on Geccko - completed before commencing.
Basic Food Handlers Training - available free Food Handler Basics training | NSW Food Authority - completed before commencing.
Experience working with children in a educational setting - (preferred).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to think creatively and design engaging activities.
Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
Previous experience working with children in a similar role, preferably in an OSHC setting.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Flexibility to work varying hours and days as required.
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 2:30pm - 6:00pm, Casual.
