Description
Environmental laboratory in Mississauga is looking for a qualified individual to join their small team for a Full Time opening as Receiving Clerk/Laboratory analyst.
This is an entry level position, no previous experience necessary. Training will be provided. Please note training will begin as a Receiving Clerk before being moved to Analyst duties.
Passport may be required to complete laboratory Analyst training.
Receiving Clerk Duties
- Receive samples from incoming packages; via courier, Canada post, and walk in clients
- Data entry of samples into our Laboratory Information Management System.
- Ensure all samples are placed in proper storage area to await analysis
- Clean microscope slides as needed
- Package and ship environmental supplies to clients
- Perform credit card transactions for payment
- Assist with customer service client questions as needed
- Clerical duties such as answering phones, filing, faxing, assisting clients, scanning, mailing, etc. as needed
- Handling trash and general housekeeping in receiving room and laboratory
- Other tasks and projects as needed
Laboratory Analyst Duties
- Preparation and analysis of environmental samples
- Identifying and reporting fungi from spore traps, tapes, swabs and bulk samples using optical microscopy
- Maintaining QA/QC, GLP, and company policy
- Maintain equipment and laboratory station
- Other tasks and projects as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's of Science, preferably in Biology or Microbiology (special consideration for relevant diplomas)
- Must be comfortable working with microscopes for long periods of time
- Candidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
- Good communication skills (will have some client interaction).
- Good computer skills both in typing (60+ WPM) and MS Office.
- Must be comfortable working with a small team and independently.
- Must be able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
Hours:
- Monday to Friday 8:15 AM to 5:00 PM
- Overtime when required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $17.60 per hour
Education:
Secondary School (preferred)
Experience:
Laboratory Technician: 1 year (preferred)
Work Location: In person
