The ideal candidate understands progressive education, demonstrates an active commitment to social justice education, uses both as a platform to deepen curiosity and engagement for high school students, and possesses a desire to be involved in the community beyond the classroom.
The high school division seeks a dynamic STEM teacher to lead and support an inquiry-based and hands-on program where students gain fluency in STEM subjects, explore a range of courses in the field ranging from Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, physical sciences, life sciences, and environmental sciences, etc. The instructor will have demonstrated experience with safely teaching students in laboratory settings, this includes deepening each student's skill in scientific writing, research and exploration. In addition, the instructor will have skills to organize relevant and meaningful field trips and support students in getting involved in the local scientific community. The successful candidate will incorporate the understanding of concepts that meets the needs of our expanding program, helping students to problem solve and think critically about the world through applied STEM fields.
Waverly teachers enjoy the freedom to design curricula to meet the needs of students. This is done in partnership with the faculty and Head of the High School. The ideal candidate will have a strong mathematical background and are excited about curriculum design.
