Support the student to start tasks (even when they feel stuck)
Work alongside them to build confidence and momentum
Use simple structures to support: Essay writing, Reflection tasks, Study planning
Encourage a “done is better than perfect” approach

This role would be great for someone who is:

Studying Psychology, Education, Health Sciences, or similar
Interested in neurodiversity, mental health, or learning support
Calm, encouraging, and good at explaining things simply

What we’re looking for

Friendly, patient, and reliable
Able to keep things simple and practical
Comfortable supporting a student who may feel stuck or overwhelmed
Able to guide rather than take over
Some familiarity with NCEA is helpful (but not essential)
Bonus (but not required)

Understanding of ADHD / executive functioning differences
Experience with tutoring, mentoring, or working with young people
Confidence supporting writing tasks
Not theright fit if you prefer:

Lecture-style teaching
Expecting students to work independently without support
Focusing heavily on perfection or correctness early on
Why this role matters

This is a chance to make a real difference for a student who:

Has strong ability
Just needs the right kind of support to unlock it
How to apply

Please send a short message including:

A bit about yourself and what you’re studying
Any relevant experience (formal or informal)
Why this role interests you
