Electric Motor Repair Technician - 2nd Shift

As an Electric Motor Repair Technician, your day-to-day activities will be dynamic and impactful, helping critical industries keep their equipment operational.

About the Role: Located at the IPS Los Angeles Service Center, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including disassembling and cleaning electro-mechanical equipment, replacing or repairing worn components, and conducting thorough testing of equipment. This is a great opportunity to apply your expertise and collaborate with a team focused on safety and quality.

Your Responsibilities Include:
• Reviewing job cards to understand scope and problem descriptions.
• Testing electro-mechanical equipment using a variety of methods.
• Disassembling equipment while carefully noting parts details and conditions.
• Cleaning equipment assemblies through various techniques.
• Measuring replacement parts and managing requisitions as approved.
• Repairing or replacing worn assemblies (e.g., bearings, brushes).
• Retesting reassembled equipment to ensure proper functionality.
• Completing required paperwork accurately and promptly.
• Utilizing specialized repair and testing equipment.
• Adhering to safety protocols and utilizing appropriate protective gear.
• Maintaining a tidy work area as directed.
• Assisting fellow mechanics and shop personnel as needed.
• Performing additional tasks assigned by supervisors.
• Conducting teardown and assembly of rolling element motors and pumps with minimal supervision.
• Executing Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) with oversight.
• Ensuring accuracy of machine work independently.
• Reading and verifying external winding connections without supervision.
• Measuring rotor Total Indicator Runout (TIR) autonomously.

Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience as an AC/DC motor mechanic is preferred.
• Able to work Monday - Friday from 3 PM to 11 PM PST, with overtime as needed.
• Proficient mechanical skills and effective communication in English.
• Ability to understand and apply operational and safety procedures.
• Strong safety orientation with adaptability to dynamic work environments.
• Comfortable working in confined or elevated spaces.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally 100 pounds.
• Proficient in navigating potential hazards and uneven terrain safely.
• Engaged in physical tasks such as standing, kneeling, crawling, and other movements.
