Job Description
Role Summary/Purpose: As the Assistant Vice President of Reliability Engineering, you will thrive in a hands-on system design and architecture role, leading by example to ensure timely completion of critical projects. Your expertise in solution architecture and email delivery will be pivotal as you support and maintain business and commercial applications within Synchrony, aiming for maximum uptime and reliability. You will be a key leader on our team.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Influence agile development teams throughout the Agile development life cycle using SAFE.
• Assist developers in migrating to new technologies and architect applications across tech stacks, including AWS, PCF, Cloud Native Architecture, Microservices, Spring Java, and RESTful APIs.
• Design data models for complex business processes and responsive frontends using React.
• Drive CI/CD strategies utilizing Jenkins, Bitbucket, and uDeploy.
• Collaborate with software developers, UX designers, product managers, and application architects to create exceptional web applications.
• Mentor and influence team members across all levels.
• Ensure adherence to architecture, security, and technology standards enforced by Synchrony Financial.
• Contribute to crafting and maintaining the future technology architectural strategy.
• Lead Agile sprints as a technical expert, including planning and reviews.
• Guarantee application code quality through development, testing, and QA.
• Participate in root cause analyses and provide resolution direction for incidents.
• Passionately explore the latest technologies and open-source projects.
• Provide periodic 24x7 on-call support as needed.
• Identify ways to enhance system performance and efficiency.
• Collaborate with third-party vendors for software development and integration.
• Be willing to travel as necessary.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of solution architecture experience, or a High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of experience.
• A minimum of 2 years of web application development experience.
Desired Characteristics:
• Experience in building and consuming RESTful web services.
• Familiarity with continuous integration environments.
• Ability to write unit, integration, and UI test cases.
• Deep understanding of responsive web design and cross-device support.
• Strong experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry.
• Knowledge of using Splunk for production support.
• Proficient in JSON, REST, and XML-based web services.
• Understanding of the overall mobile industry.
• Exceptional technical communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• A collaborative team player who thrives in a dynamic environment.
• Experience with financial or banking applications.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence various stakeholders.
• A keen attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Compensation: The salary range for this position is $100,000.00 - $170,000.00 USD annually, with eligibility for a performance-based bonus.
Eligibility Requirements: You must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and be willing to undergo a drug test, background investigation, and fingerprinting during the onboarding process. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We do not sponsor employment visas.
