Overview - Join Motorola Solutions as a Lead R&D Systems Engineer specializing in Networked Electronic Warfare (EW). We are a global organization focused on delivering critical communications, video security, and command center technologies to public safety agencies and enterprises. The Opportunity - Silvus is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior R&D Systems Engineer to join our Research & Development team. In this pivotal role, you will report to the Senior Director of R&D Electronic Warfare and be instrumental in defining and developing next-generation Networked Electronic Warfare systems. Your expertise will bridge the gap between complex RF hardware, advanced signal processing software, and distributed networking architectures.

You will collaborate within a multidisciplinary R&D team to architect systems that detect and counter threats while coordinating effects across intelligent nodes. A rigorous systems engineering approach is necessary to capture designs, manage requirements, and ensure mission success in contested RF environments.

This position is based at Silvus Technologies' headquarters in West Los Angeles, CA, and follows a hybrid work schedule; a minimum of 3 days on-site per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays) is expected.

Role and Responsibilities
• System Architecture & Design: Lead the architectural definition of networked EW systems, breaking down high-level mission requirements into detailed hardware, software, and firmware specifications.
• Requirements Management: Utilize modern tools to capture, trace, and maintain system requirements through the product lifecycle, ensuring coverage from customer needs to validation testing.
• Technical Documentation: Author and maintain engineering artifacts, including System Design Descriptions, Interface Control Documents, Concepts of Operations, and Test Plans.
• MBSE Implementation: Apply Model Based Systems Engineering methodologies to model system behaviors, ensuring coherency across distributed network nodes.
• Integration & Test Leadership: Define and oversee system integration strategies; lead integration events involving RF hardware, embedded software, and network emulators.
• Cross Functional Collaboration: Serve as a technical bridge between RF, FPGA, Software, and Mechanical teams, balancing performance, SWaP, and cost.
• Performance Analysis: Develop simulation models (MATLAB/Python) to predict system performance under realistic channel conditions.

Travel Requirements - Occasional travel for team meetings.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in systems engineering for complex hardware/software systems.
• Strong understanding of the V model, requirements decomposition, and lifecycle management.
• Proven experience in Electronic Warfare, Signals Intelligence, Tactical Radios/Wireless Communications, or Radar Systems.
• Hands-on experience with systems engineering tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, IBM DOORS, or Jama Connect.
• Active U.S. Government SECRET clearance or ability to obtain one within 12 months of hire.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen due to government contracts.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Master of Science degree in Systems Engineering or a related field.
• Understanding of distributed EW concepts like TDOA/FDOA geolocation.
• Proficiency in SysML and experience with executable system models.
• Fluency in RF and Networking, knowledge of RF propagation, link budgets, and modulation techniques.
• Familiarity with networking protocols and tactical data links.
• Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or Simulink for data analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Basic Requirements
• Bachelor of Science degree in relevant technical field.
• 5+ years of systems engineering experience.
• Proven experience in relevant domains.
• Hands-on experience with systems engineering tools.
• Active U.S. Government SECRET clearance or ability to obtain one.

Travel Requirements - Under 10% travel, with relocation provided.
