Job Description:
Join our dynamic team as a Lead Electrical Engineer and take charge of designing innovative electrical systems for federal infrastructures, including water/wastewater and industrial projects. We are looking for a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) who possesses both technical expertise and project management skills, making this role perfect for those who excel in both engineering and client interactions.
This hybrid position can be based in Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; Denver, CO; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; Irvine, CA; Concord, CA; Carlsbad, CA; or Phoenix, AZ.
This position will support federal project work for clients that require U.S. Citizenship.
As a Lead Electrical Engineer, you will:
• Drive the design of electrical distribution systems, including medium and low voltage systems, substations, switchgear, and backup generation systems.
• Utilize software such as SKM Power Tools and ETAP to perform electrical calculations and power system analyses.
• Design lighting, control systems, and other low-voltage systems.
• Develop comprehensive electrical plans and specifications for complex projects, including federal, water/wastewater, industrial, and transportation sectors.
• Conduct thorough site investigations and effectively coordinate with clients, utilities, and code officials.
• Review shop drawings and provide construction support services.
• Prepare accurate cost estimates using tools like RS Means.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 820, and relevant codes and standards.
• Supervise and nurture junior engineers while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
• Define project scope, schedules, and budgets, incorporating lessons learned for continuous improvement.
• Monitor project risks and execute effective mitigation strategies.
• Manage client billing, subcontractor payments, and ensure project profitability.
• Develop resource plans for project staffing and procurement.
• Offer coaching and feedback to project staff to foster career growth.
• Build and sustain strong client relationships through exceptional project execution.
• Identify change order opportunities and promote repeat business.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related discipline. Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in the field.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required depending on project needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in designing medium and low-voltage power systems for water/wastewater, industrial, federal, and transit facilities.
• Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, NESC, IEEE, UFC, and other relevant codes and standards.
• Hands-on experience using SKM Power Tools and/or ETAP for power systems analysis.
