Retail Manager

Each Retail Manager will be responsible for the full operational management of one dairy store, ensuring profitability, compliance, staffing, and customer service standards are met. Given the company operates three separate locations, each store requires an independent manager to ensure effective day-to-day decision-making and supervision.

Key Duties and Responsibilities1. Store Operations Management

Oversee daily operations of the assigned dairy store, ensuring smooth functioning
Open and close the store in accordance with business trading hours
Monitor store presentation, cleanliness, and merchandising standards
Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety, and licensing requirements
2. Staff Management and Supervision

Recruit, train, and supervise retail staff including checkout operators and assistants
Prepare and manage staff rosters based on business demand
Monitor employee performance and provide coaching and disciplinary actions where required
Ensure adequate staffing during peak hours and weekends
3. Inventory and Stock Control

Manage ordering, receiving, and storage of stock (groceries, dairy products, beverages, etc.)
Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages and wastage
Conduct regular stocktakes and reconcile discrepancies
Liaise with suppliers and negotiate pricing where required
4. Financial and Sales Management

Monitor daily sales, cash flow, and store profitability
Implement pricing strategies and promotional activities
Prepare sales reports and provide performance feedback to directors
Ensure accurate cash handling, EFTPOS reconciliation, and banking
5. Customer Service and Business Development

Ensure high standards of customer service are consistently maintained
Handle customer complaints and resolve issues professionally
Build relationships with regular customers and local community
Identify opportunities to increase sales and improve store performance
6. Compliance and Risk Management

Ensure compliance with all relevant New Zealand legislation (employment, health & safety, food safety)
Maintain records required for audits and inspections
Monitor security procedures, including theft prevention and incident reporting
7. Independent Store Responsibility (Important for Job Check Justification)

Each manager will independently manage one store location
Responsible for decision-making on staffing, stock, pricing, and daily operations
Directors oversee overall business strategy, while managers handle store-level execution
Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following:

At least 2 years relevant work experience in retail or store management
OR
A Level 4 or higher qualification
Pay rate $32–$35/hour

Weekly hours 32- 40
