Job description
Purely litigation roles
Preferably from lending, financial services background and experience
Should have excellent knowledge of all litigation tools, sections, sub sections and new jurisdictions related to financial services businesses including NBFC operations, housing finance, real estate lending, and payment wallet services
Good drafting skills
Should have managed a team and adept at being an individual contributor as well
Education: LLB/LLM from reputed institutions
Key Responsibilities
Litigation Management
Lead end-to-end litigation strategy across NBFC, housing finance, real estate lending, and payment businesses
Manage a diverse portfolio including recovery matters, consumer disputes, regulatory cases, arbitration, and criminal litigation
Handle specialized proceedings under SARFAESI, DRT/DRAT, Section 138, IBC, and other applicable laws
Oversee external counsel and ensure effective case strategy and execution
Recovery & Enforcement
Drive legal recovery strategies for delinquent portfolios
Oversee enforcement actions including mortgage enforcement, possession, and auction processes
Work closely with business and collections teams to improve recovery timelines and outcomes
Regulatory & Compliance
Manage responses to regulatory notices, inquiries, and proceedings
Provide litigation inputs into compliance frameworks
Track regulatory developments and assess business impact
External Counsel Management
Appoint and manage law firms and external counsels
Monitor performance, control legal costs, and ensure quality delivery
Team Leadership
Lead and mentor a litigation team
Drive performance standards, capability building, and knowledge updates
Risk Management & Advisory
Identify and mitigate litigation risks across business lines
Advise leadership on dispute resolution strategies and legal exposure
Recommend settlement vs litigation approach based on risk assessment
Reporting & Governance
Provide regular updates on litigation portfolio, risks, and key matters
Track legal spend and maintain MIS/reporting systems
Key Requirements
Strong experience in financial services litigation (NBFC, housing finance, lending, payments)
Deep expertise in SARFAESI, DRT/DRAT, IBC, arbitration, and recovery laws
Proven ability to handle complex, high-stakes litigation matters
Experience in managing external counsel and legal teams
Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills
Ability to work in high-pressure, fast-paced environments
Education
Law degree (LLB/LLM) from a recognized institution
Experience
15+ years overall experience, with significant exposure to financial services litigation
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹3,000,000.00 - ₹4,500,000.00 per year
Ability to commute/relocate:
• Connaught Place, Delhi, Delhi: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
Experience:
