Business Title: Senior Workers' Compensation Claims Specialist

Summary:

Join our dynamic Claims team as a Senior Workers' Compensation Claims Specialist and contribute to our commitment to exceptional service and innovative solutions in the industry. This position offers the flexibility to work from our offices in Rockwood, PA; Omaha, NE; Albany, NY; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; New York, NY; or Springfield, MO. You will be responsible for adjudicating workers' compensation claims across multiple jurisdictions, including CO, KS, KY, MD, MI, MO, MT, PA, UT, and WV. Approximately 20% of claims involve the federal black lung program, reflecting our focus on the coal-mining sector.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Adjudicate highly complex indemnity and federal black lung workers' compensation claims under limited technical direction, ensuring our clients receive the best possible outcomes.
• Deliver outstanding customer service through effective client and broker engagement.
• Analyze claims trends and provide insightful reports to management and underwriting teams.
• Identify loss drivers and recommend strategies to reduce claim frequency and severity.
• Conduct thorough investigations and interviews to assess the validity of claims.
• Manage claims with a focus on achieving timely and fair resolutions.
• Create and update reserves according to market standards and Argo's policies.
• Coordinate expertise and resources for complex cases to enhance resolution strategies.
• Document all findings with detailed reports and clear communication.
• Employ creative problem-solving techniques to facilitate favorable financial outcomes.
• Negotiate settlements effectively while adhering to organizational protocols.
• Prioritize workload and manage diary to ensure timely case progression.

Qualifications / Experience Required:
• A strong business acumen with at least five years of experience adjudicating workers' compensation claims in the specified jurisdictions.
• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is required. Alternative qualifications include two or more insurance designations or four additional years of relevant experience.
• Must possess or be able to quickly obtain a Kentucky license to adjudicate first-party claims.
• Exceptional communication skills with an ability to foster strong relationships.
• Demonstrate discretion and independent judgment in significant matters, facing complex issues.
• Strong negotiation skills with a proactive approach to finding solutions.
• A focus on execution and a results-oriented mindset.
• Client-focused with the ability to assess specific needs and deliver value-added solutions.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and changing work environment with effective time management skills.
• Understanding of claims settlement dispute resolution mechanisms such as arbitration and mediation.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite and other business-related software.
• Desire for continuous professional growth through education and self-development.

The salary range for this position varies by location. Pay for candidates in Albany and Chicago ranges from $111,384 to $132,498, while candidates in Los Angeles and New York City can expect a range of $121,482 to $144,636. This role is eligible for an annual bonus based on performance, alongside a comprehensive benefits package.
