The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is currently seeking a full time Core Desk Coordinator for the Department of Preadmissions in Miami. Florida. The Core Desk Coordinator assumes responsibility for the daily management and efficient coordination of the surgical case load, staffing availability, and room start times and room turnover. Moreover, The Core Desk Coordinator assumes responsibility for the daily management and efficient coordination of

preadmission workflows, including patient readiness, staffing support, and timely processing of scheduled and add-on cases.

The Core Desk Coordinator provides direct and indirect support to patients and staff, facilitates communication between nursing, APRNs, anesthesia, and surgical teams, and helps ensure all preoperative requirements are completed accurately and efficiently. Additionally, the incumbent supports the development and implementation of individualized plans of care and evaluates patient readiness for surgery.

The Core Desk Coordinator provides direct and indirect care to assigned patients and supervises assigned personnel. Moreover, the incumbent formulates and implements individualized plans of care and evaluates patients’ response to care and treatment.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
• Creates and assesses the daily schedule to plan optimal staff utilization and functioning of the operative schedule.
• Maintains effective lines of communication with all necessary personnel and surgical services departments.
• Notifies surgeons, anesthesiologists, SPU and PACU personnel of time changes and added operative cases.
• Communicates all staffing needs and scheduling changes to appropriate supervisory personnel.
• Anticipates potential scheduling problems and exhibits proactive management.
• Estimates room and time availability for schedule changes and/or added cases.
• Documents data regarding problematic areas on master schedule.
• Coordinates delivery of appropriate specimens to the Pathology Department.
• Resolves daily narcotic discrepancies and prepares a weekly discrepancy report.
• Maintains accurate documentation of required quality control and department logs.
• Attends departmental and unit based meetings or acknowledges review of notes and minutes.
• Participates in hospital risk management program by reporting all unusual occurrences.
• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution, ACEN and/or CCNE

Certification and Licensing:
Valid State of Florida RN license and BLS required

Experience:
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required

BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
- Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform comprehensive hearing evaluation, hearing aid selection and fitting for all clients, employing best practices as defined by our client-centric service model of Simply Excellent Hearing Care. Meets minimum NPS score of 75.
• Routinely demonstrates hearing aids as part of annual evaluations for clients to experience the sound and create the ‘wow’ moment of a personalized auditory simulation.

• Perform routine follow-ups, clean and checks and hearing aid repairs. Maintain skills in ear impression taking, earmold modification and recommendation of ALD accessories.
• Embody HearUSA's ambition of Changing Lives through Simply Excellent Hearing Care. Partner with the District manager, HCP Team Leads and L&D to adopt new initiatives aimed to grow your Center's revenue and change more lives.
• Build a local community to proactively generate service demand and support marketing campaigns, such as to physicians and at health fairs. Successfully completes one community outreach and/or physician marketing per quarter.
• Comply with all State license laws, FDA guidelines, WSA policies and HearUSA Quality Practice Guidelines (QPG). Operates in a HIPAA compliant manner, with documentation, outcome notes and referrals completed for all clients.
• Engage in Continued Professional Development to maintain expertise in all aspects of service delivery, from consultative counseling to the selling, fitting and troubleshooting of current hearing aid technology.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Experience in a similar Audiology or Hearing Aid Specialist role.
• Active state license in Audiology and/or hearing aid dispensing.
• 1-5 years of experience preferred.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
• Basic or advanced written communication skills.
• Experience interacting with customers/clients.
• Ability to communicate detailed or technical information clearly, accurately and concisely.
• Ability to work quickly, accurately and independently in a fast paced environment.
