Job Description

What We're Looking For:

Barge Design Solutions is seeking a Project Scientist to join our Environmental & Natural Resources team. This position will be based in our Atlanta, GA office and work closely with other staff executing work plans to collect and analyze data for clients documenting observations and developing basic recommendations supporting projects in a timely and quality oriented manner. This role spends frequent time in various field settings performing work.

Responsibilities:
• Assists in collection of data from various sources in the field, in addition to, compiling reports, maps, and other documents.
• Assists with data verification documenting observations from sources identified in scopes of work.
• Assists with analyzing data, reports, maps, aerial photographs, and other records as needed.
• Develops basic conclusions from observations of data and collected samples.
• Coordinates and executes portions of field work associated with approved Statement of Work.
• Provides appropriate communication to manager as it relates to permitting status & other various deliverables.
• Assists in writing portions of technical reports and provides basic recommendations based on conclusions reached from findings.
• Organize and order field equipment/ testing supplies for various laboratory samples.
• Performs other duties as requested.

Education & Experience Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree from accredited program.

Skills:
• Knowledge of scientific principals and methods.
• Familiarity with GIS and other essential equipment needed for field and office work.
• General knowledge of state and federal regulations.

Supervision:
• Provides instructions to staff with field work to support project deliverables.
• Identifies changing conditions in the field and makes recommendation for appropriate adjustment.

Other:
• Walk, sit, and stand. Occasionally reach with hands, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Occasionally climb 25-30 feet. Occasionally lift up to 40 lbs. Frequently works in outdoor conditions requiring ability to walk or climb uneven terrain consisting of various changing vegetation, material, and incline on construction sites. Visual acuity sufficient to read alpha/ numeric symbols for computation and design.
• Ability to adapt quickly and respond effectively to project issues that arise.
• Requires some travel.
