Job Title: Licensed Embalmer

Job Purpose

We are looking to hire a California Licensed Embalmer to work our night shift from 11 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. If you’re a CA licensed embalmer look no further – hands down, we are the best mortuary in town! Our reputation surpasses all others. We pay our embalmers very competitively and we offer an outstanding benefits package. And most importantly, we appreciate our staff!

In this position you will take first calls. You will be dealing with families in their darkest hour, so your customer service skills must be on point! In addition to taking first calls, you will arrange for decedent transport. However, the primary duty is caring for decedents and preparing them for final disposition. Your computer skills must be solid and your attention to detail must be strong. Must be a team player. Paperwork is part of the deal!

Essential Responsibilities
• Prepare Decedents

Receiving and verifying the decedent’s identity; taking inventory of personal effects; setting features; bathing and autopsy repair; embalming if requested; applying cosmetics, hairstyling, dressing, casketing of decedent and all other aspects of preparation.
• Receive and Dispatch First Calls

Obtaining and recording necessary information; advising clients accordingly.
• Maintain Preparation and Dressing Rooms

Cleaning and disinfecting as necessary in accordance with industry standards.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent plus an AA degree (preferred)

License Requirements

Current California Embalmer License

Solid knowledge and understanding of State of California regulatory requirements and mortuary industry standards.

• Proficient in all aspects of case preparation

• Demonstrate superior communication skills, both verbal and written
• Positive attitude is a must
• Willingness to learn
• Work knowledge of NetSuite (highly preferred but will train).

Working Conditions

Sitting, standing, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 75 lbs.

Job Type

Full-time on site. Not a remote position.

Pay: $33.00 - $36.00 per hour
