The Clinical Microbiology Laboratory at UCLA Health is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Hospital Laboratory Technician I to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting accurate and timely diagnostic testing by assisting with specialized microbiology procedures and specimen processing.
Key duties include:
Process Ova and Parasite (O&P) specimens.
Prepare Pneumocystis and fungal stains.
Handle Mycology and AFB blood specimens for processing.
Set up and operate the Vitek ID/AST instrument.
Inoculate microdilution MICs for antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
Subculture quality control organisms to maintain testing accuracy.
Salary Range: $27.71/hour – $36.60/hour
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED or HiSET).
Availability to work weekends, holidays, and variable shifts.
Ability to work independently and demonstrate resourcefulness in a fast-paced lab setting.
Working knowledge of clinical microbiology techniques and specimen processing – preferred.
