Job Description

Compliance Officer

Company Overview

Objective

Under the company’s overall risk management and internal control framework, lead the establishment and continuous enhancement of the compliance management system for the Canada entity. Ensure the effective operation of the “Three Lines of Defense,” and guarantee that all overseas operations comply with applicable laws and regulations in China and Canada, as well as internal policies. Strengthen compliance risk prevention and control to mitigate major compliance risks and support high-quality, sustainable development.

***Please note this is a 12 month contract position***

Responsibilities:

Establish and continuously improve the compliance management system, including policies, procedures, and implementation mechanisms.
Conduct compliance risk identification, assessment, and early warning, and develop mitigation measures.
Implement compliance requirements from headquarters and ensure effective execution in the Canada entity, taking responsibility for compliance performance.
Participate in compliance review of major business decisions, key projects, and contracts, including drafting, revising, and risk assessment of relevant documents.
Monitor changes in Canadian laws and regulations (e.g., energy regulation, environmental, HSE, anti-corruption) and provide timely compliance advice.
Support and respond to compliance incidents or emergencies, including internal investigations and corrective actions.
Prepare annual compliance work plans and reports, and provide regular updates to management.
Organize compliance training and awareness programs to enhance employees’ compliance mindset.
Coordinate with internal/external audits and regulatory inspections, and support related compliance reviews.
Perform other duties assigned by supervisor and management.
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in Law, Compliance, Risk Management, or a related field.
1–3 years of experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, or a related field.
Familiar with Canadian laws, regulations, and compliance requirements; knowledge of Alberta regulators is preferred.
Experience in the energy sector (including oil and gas) is an asset.
Strong ability to identify, analyze, and solve risks and problems.
Good communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment.
Proficient in English (listening, speaking, reading, and writing); bilingual ability is an asset.
Detail-oriented, with strong professionalism and a high sense of responsibility.
Relevant professional certifications are preferred.
