Job Description
About Circadia Health
Circadia Health is a growth-stage healthcare AI company on a mission to prevent avoidable hospitalizations and transform senior-care operations. Our Circadia Intelligence Platform combines:
• Contactless sensing that monitors respiration and motion with medical-grade accuracy
• Predictive analytics & agentic AI workflows that detect 85% of preventable rehospitalizations ~11 days in advance
• Enterprise integrations that embed insights directly into EHR, care-coordination, billing, and compliance systems
Today, our technology touches 40,000+ post-acute patients daily across skilled-nursing, home-health, and home-care networks. We are backed by leading healthcare and AI investors and headquartered in El Segundo, CA.
The Role
As Head of Accounting you will own the full accounting function: month-end close, consolidated reporting, payroll, compliance, and the systems infrastructure underneath it all. You will lead a two-person team, work directly with the CEO, and build the accounting foundation that scales with the company through its next phase of growth.
This is a high-autonomy role for someone who wants to build, not just maintain. If you thrive on bringing order to complexity and want a seat at the table in a company that is redefining healthcare delivery with AI, read on.
What You’ll Do
Close & Consolidated Reporting
• Lead the full month-end close across all U.S. entities, including MSO/PC structures and RPM operations
• Prepare monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and management reporting packages
• Perform and document all consolidation entries for multi-entity reporting
• Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly with supporting documentation
• Establish and maintain a close calendar; continuously improve close efficiency and internal controls
Revenue Accounting & RCM Interface
• Partner with the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) team to understand billing trends and record revenue entries from their billing files (this role does not perform insurance billings directly)
• Ensure revenue recognition compliance with ASC 606
• Identify revenue leakage and optimization opportunities; develop reporting by payor, insurer, and facility
• Perform direct invoicing for applicable customer accounts
Payroll, Compliance & Insurance
• Own payroll administration, inquiries, and state-level registrations across all operating states
• Manage payroll accruals, reconciliations, workers’ compensation reporting, and regulatory requests
• Oversee corporate insurance policies in coordination with business leadership
Chart of Accounts, Systems & Reporting Infrastructure
• Redesign and optimize the Chart of Accounts with proper departments, cost centers, and reporting segments
• Serve as primary administrator of QuickBooks; evaluate ERP alternatives as the company scales
• Enhance reporting views for executive leadership and the board
Cross-Border, Tax & R&D Coordination
• Coordinate with UK compliance partners on statutory filings and R&D tax credits
• Interface with external U.S. tax advisors on federal and state compliance
• Support R&D capitalization documentation, PDE treatment, and GAAP expense vs. capitalize decisions
• Maintain intercompany balances, FX accounting, and consolidation reporting
Cost Discipline & Financial Leadership
• Own AP, AR, Invoicing, and all other associated functions
• Perform detailed monthly cost and vendor variance analysis with actionable savings recommendations
• Monitor vendor contract terms and renewal cycles
• Strengthen internal controls in preparation for audit readiness; lead annual audit coordination when the company is ready
• Support board-level financial reporting and investor communications
• Mentor and develop accounting team members
What Success Looks Like (6–12 Months)
• Clean, predictable month-end close that leadership can set their watch to
• Accurate consolidated reporting across all entities with clear audit trail
• Revenue fully reconciled between the billing team and the P&L with payor-level visibility
• Improved cost discipline, spend transparency, and actionable variance reporting
• Accounting function operating as a strategic asset, not a back-office bottleneck
Must-Have Qualifications
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with deep technical knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition, and consolidations
• Experience working with external auditors and tax advisors
• Advanced Excel skills and ERP system administration experience
• CPA or equivalent international designation
• Experience in healthcare, MSO/PC structures, SaaS, or multi-entity environments
Nice-to-Haves
• Experience using Claude Code or similar AI tools to assist with accounting and finance functions
• Experience in healthcare, MSO/PC structures, SaaS, or multi-entity environments
Who You Are
• You bring technical depth and a process discipline mindset — you build systems, not just spreadsheets
• You communicate at the executive level and can translate numbers into narrative for the board and investors
• You’re high-integrity, self-directed, and energized by building accounting infrastructure from the ground up
• You collaborate cross-functionally and see accounting as a strategic function, not a compliance checkbox
Compensation & Perks
• Base $170k – $210k base salary + meaningful employee stock options
• Benefits: 100% company-paid medical, dental, and vision; 401(k) with match, generous PTO
• Workspace: El Segundo HQ with rooftop views, espresso bar, and weekly team lunches
