WordPress Developer
Calgary, AB | In-Person | Full-Time | Salary $70k - $75k
CAYK is a Calgary-based digital marketing agency. We build websites, landing pages, and ongoing digital experiences for a range of clients across industries. We move quickly, we care about quality, and we expect our development team to be builders in the truest sense, people who can take a design file and turn it into a polished, performant product without needing their hand held through it.
This is a full-time, in-person role based at our Calgary office.
Key Responsibilities
1. WordPress Website Development
Build full WordPress websites from approved design files, including custom themes and page templates. Translate Figma and Adobe Illustrator files faithfully and precisely, maintaining brand standards across every breakpoint. Deliver builds that are clean, performant, and well-documented.
2. Landing Page Development
Build standalone landing pages within WordPress environments, often under tight timelines and with a clear conversion objective. Work from the provided designs and ensure every build is optimized for both performance and user experience on mobile and desktop.
3. Client Website Updates and Maintenance
Execute ongoing updates for active clients, including content changes, layout revisions, new page additions, and performance fixes. Manage multiple client sites concurrently, prioritize work within the project management system, and deliver updates without introducing regressions.
4. Design-to-Development Interpretation
Receive design files from Figma or Adobe Illustrator and own the translation process from design to live build. Flag scope concerns or technical constraints early in the process, collaborate with the design team where needed, and produce results that match intent without requiring excessive revision cycles.
5. Code Quality and Collaboration
Maintain consistent, documented code that other developers can read and continue without friction. Operate within the agency project management system alongside Traffic Controllers, Client Account Managers, and department leads. Communicate clearly when timelines are at risk, take ownership of your work through to launch, and contribute to a development environment that runs efficiently.
What We're Looking For
Proficiency in Back-End Web Development and Front-End Development, including coding in PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Strong skills in Responsive Web Design to ensure mobile-friendly, cross-browser-compatible websites.
Experience with Web Design, focusing on aesthetic, user-friendly, and functional interfaces.
Extensive knowledge of Web Development, including troubleshooting, performance optimization, and WordPress CMS customizations.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with designers, marketers, and stakeholders.
Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have
Shopify development experience
Site performance optimization (Core Web Vitals, caching, image optimization)
Google Tag Manager or basic analytics implementation
Experience with CRO-focused landing page builds
Experience with on-scroll animation, HTML5, etc.
Experience with at least one JS development framework
