Human Resources Lead – (13-14 Month Contract)
Tigh-Na-Mara Resort is a beautiful 22-acre oceanfront resort, spa and conference centre nestled in the heart of Vancouver Island. Tigh-Na-Mara prides itself in offering exceptional guest experiences in a natural and picturesque setting.
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the HR Lead plays a key role in supporting day-to-day Human Resources operations across the organization. This position is responsible for delivering effective recruitment, onboarding, Team Member support, and compliance initiatives.
Working closely with the Director of Human Resources, the HR Lead supports a dynamic team of approximately 275 to 325 Team Members. This role partners with leaders and Team Members across all areas of the resort to help foster a positive, engaging workplace culture.
We are seeking a candidate with proven HR experience, ideally within a hospitality environment, who brings a positive, outgoing personality and a genuine passion for people. The ideal candidate is approachable, highly organized, and eager to learn and grow within the Tigh-Na-Mara team.
This is a 13-to-14-month contract position starting in late July/early August, with potential for extension or future opportunities within the organization.
Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Recruitment & Hiring
Manage full-cycle recruitment including job postings, screening, interview coordination, and offer preparation
Collaborate with hiring managers and marketing on sourcing strategies
Attend job fairs in Parksville and Nanaimo
Onboarding & Orientation
Manage new hire processes including pre-employment preparation
Facilitate weekly onboarding and monthly orientation sessions
Support Team Member integration and early engagement
Team Member Administration
Maintain accurate HR records and documentation
Manage employment verifications
Track Team Member milestones
Support HRIS reporting and data management
Team Member Experience & Engagement
Support recognition programs
Support planning and execution of internal Team Member events
Contribute to initiatives that enhance workplace culture
Health & Safety Compliance
Monitor incident reporting and ensure documentation accuracy
Support investigations and coordinate required reporting
Programs & Partnerships
Assist with student programs, work visa processes, and referral programs
Coordinate benefits and Team Member Assistance Program (EAP) administration
Operational Support
Support Team Member inquiries
Manage internal resources such as staff housing and equipment tracking
Coordinate administrative processes including contracts and agreements
Provide day-to-day support to Director, HR
External Reporting & Compliance
Complete required government reporting such as Statistics Canada surveys
Ensure compliance with employment standards and regulations
Qualifications & Skills
Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Hospitality, Business, or related field
CPHR designation, or working towards it, is an asset
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple competing priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High level of confidentiality and professionalism
Experience with Payworks is an asset
Strong relationship-building skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Adaptable, resilient, and open to change
Hospitality or hotel experience preferred
Self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team
Work Environment
On-site position in Parksville, BC. Candidates must be able to reliably commute daily
Fast-paced resort and conference centre operating year-round
Typical schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility
Occasional evenings and Saturdays for events & orientations
Business attire
