Kosher Prep Cook

We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Kosher Prep Cook to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing ingredients, assisting with meal assembly, and supporting the chef and kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient food service operations. This position is not your typical line cook/ restaurant role. You will be working with a small team servicing seniors and preparing for community catering orders. This opportunity will allow you to develop culinary skills while working with the head chef in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring to ensure timely meal production
Assist with menu planning by organizing ingredients and prepping components for daily specials or standard dishes
Support cooking activities by following recipes and instructions from chefs or kitchen staff
Handle food safely by adhering to proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures
Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment throughout shifts to meet health standards
Support food service operations by plating dishes, portioning ingredients, and ensuring presentation quality
Participate in catering events by preparing large quantities of menu items in accordance with event specifications
Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient meal preparation and timely service delivery
Requirements

Prior experience in dietary departments or dietary aide roles is highly desirable
Proven background in food preparation, cooking, or restaurant kitchen environments
Strong knife skills and familiarity with various techniques
Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail
Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Basic understanding of catering services and serving protocols is a plus
Knowledge of Kosher regulations and Jewish customs and asset
Early morning start required
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
Pay: $16.00-$18.00 per hour
