Support volunteers, communities and DOC teams to achieve better conservation outcomes.

A great opportunity to build or grow your skills in large-scale pest control and trap network delivery.

Full time, 6-month f ixed term/ secondment- based in Greymouth.

Mō te tūranga | About the role

This fixed-term role covers parental leave and leads the delivery of largescale pest control trapping network s across the Greymouth district.

The position will be focussed on:

Managing and supporting DOC staff and volunteers in the field

leading and coordinating field delivery of pest trapping and monitoring programmes

supporting species monitoring and providing native species first aid, including responding to wildlife callouts

s upport the planning and delivery of la ndscape predator control

building strong relationships with colleagues , volunteers, community groups and partners

support wider regional operations team as required .

The role involves overnight stays for up to 5 days in remote, rugged terrain, often based at a DOC house in Springs Junction.

If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you:

field delivery experience across pest control

experience with species handling and threatened species work

Growsafe certificate

strong relationship management skills, with experience engaging volunteers and community groups

a strong health and safety focus with first aid assessment experience

strong written and verbal communication skills

proficient in computer-based systems, MS Office, apps and information systems

a valid driving licence with 4WD experience .

Desirable:

s kipper licence

chainsaw experience and qualifications ( base o r higher )

f irearms licence

The salary range for this position is $ 65,070 to $75,981 with the starting salary of the successful applicant based on their relevant skills and experience.

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory – this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment.
