Job Description
Mainly responsible to provide support to the development and maintenance of telecommunications networks including internal cabling and installation of telecom and routers, networks switches, cable tv and monitored security and fire alarms.
Tasks include:
Installation and maintenance of internal telecommunications, Voice and Data Networks including copper and fibre, electrical equipment and peripherals for computer networks, CCTV and fire alarms.
Termination of fiber optic cables to expand telecommunications networks into new areas or to replace existing lines.
Build telecommunication infrastructures and data centers for Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB) projects. Run conduits and fiber cables from underground, poles, across floors and inside buildings.
Installation and repair of telecommunication and/or electrical equipment such as telephones, switchboards, meter boxes and/or circuits equipment in homes, businesses, telephone exchanges and other network sites.
Configuration and integration of network and telecommunications technology with computer software, hardware, peripherals and operating systems.
Joint and terminate Fiber optic cables in GPX cabinets, Budi systems and FAT in manholes Troubleshoot faults which may involve testing, cable locating, hauling, digging, concrete cutting, trenching and thrusting etc.
Prepare Fiber Optic cable in splice trays and enclosures.
Qualifications and skills
Must have at least 3 years’ experience in telecommunication
Experience in Fibre Optic testing and end-user equipment installation is advantageous.
Knowledge in CCTV, Wifi and Access Control is desirable.
Have an electrical background and home wiring.( not required but desirable)
Must be computer-literate.
Can do minor civil works.
Be able to work independently and works well as part of a team.
Can understand construction cabling drawings.
Must be able to pass a drug, alcohol test and MOJ check
Must be willing to learn new skills if needed; training will be provided.
Site Safe and First Aid licenses preferred
Applicants should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa. Successful candidates must be willing to work in Auckland and other regions of New Zealand.
