Young Engineers Instructor (Part-time)

Young Engineers- Canberra is a part of e2 Young Engineers Australia providing STEM programs to primary school aged children as a co-curricular activity. We provide after-school/school incursion/holiday incursions programs to students in ACT & Queanbeyan area.

Currently we are looking for casual part-time instructors who are passionate about science and technology and love working with children to join our growing talented Young Engineers team.

Job description:

Conduct after-school/holiday/school incursions programs with the assigned school.

Teach the STEM concepts we are learning on the day.

Assist children with the tools we use. Mainly LEGO builds.

Keep children engaged in the activity through-out the program to achieve the learning outcomes of the day.

Work will be casual in nature and be predominantly after school hours (between 3 pm and 6pm) and occasionally weekend/school holiday days (from 9am to 4pm).

Criteria

· Completed Year 12.

· Degree or studying towards a degree in Education, Science or Engineering

· You must have a Working With Children check or be willing to get one

· Must enjoy working with children and have a passion for guidance

· Experience in teaching/guiding especially with children is an advantage

· Must have strong communication skills both verbal and written

· Ability to perform manual task including carrying the Lego kits, setting up the venue and cleaning up afterwards.

· Must have own private vehicle and drivers licence. Travel allowance is provided.

You will be provided with on the job training with comprehensive lesson plans to prepare you for the sessions.
