Health Care Assistant – Casual - Bureau
Mō mātou - About us
When you join Presbyterian Support Central (PSC), you’re becoming part of something truly special, a not-for-profit organisation that’s been helping people for more than 115 years.
Everything we do is about supporting people at the most vulnerable times of their lives, whether that’s an older person needing care and connection, or a family working through tough times.
PSC has two well-known service brands that lie at the heart of our mahi:
Enliven: our positive ageing services that create age-friendly communities where older people have companionship, choice, fun, and purpose. Being part of our team means embracing a values-based approach and contributing to a not-for-profit service dedicated to supporting elders.
Family Works: our social services supporting children and whānau through counselling, social work, life-skills and parenting programmes and safety services.
The Enliven Bureau team provide support to our residential homes at times when they need additional cover for leave, absences, special events or unexpected or high volume of workloads. They are an essential part of the wider Enliven team and ensure that our Homes can run seamlessly at all times and offer continuity of care and support to our Elders. Our Wellington Homes are in Karori, Tawa, Johnsonville and Lower Hutt.
Together, we make a lasting difference.
Mō te tūranga - About the role
We are looking for Healthcare Assistants to join our Enliven Bureau team working casually to support our Wellington Region Homes. Our Homes provide rest home, hospital and dementia level care. Hours of work are AM, PM and Night shifts across a 7 day week. This role is supporting all our Wellington Homes including Huntleigh, Longview, Cashmere and Woburn Home.
You will work as part of an Enliven team in a peer-supported environment, where everyone wants to deliver great quality care to our residents and ensure they have a positive experience whilst living in our home. We value the flexibility you can bring with you as we appreciate every team member that can support our Homes to be a great place to live and work.
In this role you will:
Provide daily living and care support to our Elders
Encourage independence and resident‑led decision making
Deliver high‑quality, individualised support
Follow and encourage all health and safety practices and procedures
Work under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse team
Ensure resident needs are met effectively and in a timely manner
Mō koe - About You
As well as a passion for the wellbeing of older people, you will be enthusiastic but patient and well organised with great interpersonal skills. You will share our values of empathy, compassion, and respect, and operate with a person-centred approach and high care standards. Whether you are spending time with staff or residents, it's all about the way we communicate with each other and how we get the job done that counts towards making the difference to everyone's day.
We are looking for someone you can offer the following:
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Health Care Assistant
Hold a Health & Wellbeing Certificate Level 2 or higher, or currently working towards it
Passionate about supporting the wellbeing of older people
Patient, organised, and a strong team player
Good verbal communication and documentation skills
Be comfortable using a computer and keeping digital records
Mō ō tātou painga – About our benefits
