Secure and Strengthen Digital Systems as an ICT Security Administrator at the Y

We’re now seeking a motivated and detail-oriented ICT Security Administrator to join our team and help safeguard our digital environment while supporting day-to-day ICT operations across the organisation.

The Role: Your Impact Starts Here

As an ICT Security Administrator, you will be responsible for leading and delivering ICT security administration within the YMCA Canberra ICT security environment, while also providing essential service desk and infrastructure support. You will work under the direction of the Executive Manager - Business Operations to ensure systems remain secure, efficient, and aligned with best practice standards. This role is based at our Head Office at Unit 7 – Level 1/25 Geils Court, Deakin ACT 2600, with regular travel required to other YMCA Canberra sites across Canberra and surrounding NSW regions, including Sutton, Bungendore, and Queanbeyan. A Current Drivers License and the use of a vehicle is required for this role.

As Part of your role you will:

Implement and manage ICT security controls including firewalls, antivirus systems, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and encryption technologies
Monitor systems and networks for security incidents, investigate alerts, and support incident response activities
Conduct vulnerability assessments, patch management, and ongoing security monitoring
Manage and secure the Microsoft 365 environment, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams
Configure and maintain security features such as Conditional Access, MFA, DLP, and Microsoft Defender (ATP), and monitor and improve Microsoft Secure Score and Microsoft 365 Compliance Centre controls
Monitor audit logs and identify suspicious activity across Microsoft 365 and ICT systems including Windows and Linux server environments
Provide first-level ICT support to staff across the Y Canberra Region
Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware, software, networks, printers, and related systems
Manage helpdesk tickets, ensuring timely resolution and effective escalation where required
Maintain accurate ICT asset records and system documentation
What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who is proactive, technically capable, and committed to providing high-quality ICT support.

You will have:

Minimum Certificate III in IT or equivalent qualification
Minimum 1 year experience in ICT support or IT systems role
Strong understanding of ICT security principles and best practices (e.g. NIST frameworks)
Experience with Microsoft 365 administration and security tools
Knowledge of Active Directory, Windows/Linux servers, and network environments
Understanding of LAN, VPN, VoIP, and enterprise IT systems
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong time management and ability to prioritise competing tasks
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Current Driver’s Licence
ACT Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) card and/or NSW Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
