Job Description

30 hours per week (Mon–Fri)
38 weeks per year | Invercargill

Cater Plus is proud to operate the in house kitchen at Southland Boys’ High School Boarding House in Invercargill. We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Baker / Catering Assistant to join our small, experienced team, supporting the preparation of breakfast and daily catering for hostel students.

This is an education based role, meaning you’ll work approximately 38 weeks per year, with school holidays off, offering a great work life balance and time to recharge.

About the role
Working Monday to Friday on morning shifts, your focus will be on:
Baking and preparing breakfast items for hostel students
Supporting daily catering and food service requirements
Assisting with food preparation, including sandwiches and light baking
Putting away deliveries and supplies
Stocking fridges and maintaining kitchen organisation
Supporting the wider kitchen team as needed
Completing cleaning and dish duties to ensure a safe, tidy, and hygienic kitchen

We’re looking for someone who can:
Assist with baking and food preparation in a commercial kitchen
Prepare and serve wholesome, nutritious food
Follow food safety and hygiene standards
Work efficiently in a busy, structured environment
Take responsibility and work well as part of a team
Maintain a clean, safe, and hazard free kitchen

Previous experience in baking, catering, or food preparation is preferred, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are just as important.
