Job Summary
Rockin B Construction is seeking a highly skilled Journeyman or Master Wall Finisher to join our team for residential and commercial construction projects across Anchorage and the Mat-Su Valley.
This position requires an experienced tradesperson capable of producing professional Level 4 and Level 5 drywall finishes with minimal supervision. Our projects include custom homes, residential remodels, tenant improvements, and commercial construction, where high-quality wall finishing is essential.
The ideal candidate takes pride in producing paint-ready surfaces, works efficiently, maintains clean job sites, and consistently delivers professional craftsmanship.
Applicants must be capable of performing drywall installation and finishing tasks with minimal supervision and professional quality standards. Entry-level applicants will not be considered.
Responsibilities
Wall Finishing
Tape, mud, and finish drywall seams, joints, and fasteners
Achieve Level 4 and Level 5 finishes as required
Install and finish corner bead and trims
Apply multiple coats of joint compound and perform proper sanding
Repair drywall damage, cracks, and imperfections
Apply textures when required (orange peel, knockdown, etc.)
Maintain clean work areas and protect adjacent finishes
Coordinate work with project supervisors
Identify defects or framing issues affecting finish quality
Perform all aspects of surface preparation:
Patching, skim coating, sanding, caulking, priming
Identify and correct defects such as:
Flashing, lap marks, runs, orange peel, adhesion issues
Safely handle and apply:
Primers, paints, epoxies, elastomeric, and specialty coatings
Jobsite Operations
Roll out power cords and prepare tools for daily tasks
Maintain clean and organized work areas
Protect surrounding surfaces and finishes during work
Coordinate work with drywall installers, painters, and supervisors
Identify framing or drywall issues that may affect finish quality
Inventory tools, materials, and equipment at the beginning and end of shifts
Safely operate drywall finishing tools and equipment
Follow jobsite safety standards and OSHA guidelines

Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications
5+ years drywall finishing experience
Ability to perform high-quality Level 4–5 finishes
Experience with both residential and commercial projects
Knowledge of proper taping, coating, sanding, and finishing techniques
Ability to operate and maintain spray equipment
Ability to work independently or as part of a crew
Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on stilts or ladders when required
Preferred Skills
Experience with automatic taping tools
Texture matching and repair
Experience with tenant improvements and remodels
Ability to read plans or scopes of work
Experience with:
Cabinet finishing / fine finish spraying
Industrial or high-performance coatings
Medical, office, or government projects
Tools & Equipment Experience
Applicants should be familiar with tools such as:
Screw guns
Drywall finishing tools
Automatic taping tools
Chop saws
Powder-actuated tools
Scaffolding setup and breakdown
Applicants should have basic wall-finishing trade tools.
Physical Requirements
This position requires physical work in construction environments. Employees must be able to:
Stand, walk, and use hands throughout the workday
Climb ladders, scaffolding, or stilts
Kneel, crouch, and reach overhead
Lift and move materials up to 100 pounds
Work in active construction environments
Work Environment
Employees may be exposed to:
Moving mechanical equipment
Dust, fumes, and airborne particles
Elevated work areas and ladders
Loud construction environments
Proper safety equipment such as safety glasses and hearing protection must be worn when required.
Compensation & Benefits
$35 – $50 per hour depending on experience and skill
