Job Description

Employing over 1200 staff in 11 locations across New Zealand, C3 Limited is a market leader in New Zealand's port related product and cargo handling industry, adding value to our clients’ businesses by providing solutions to their transport and business needs.

C3 has a Debarker operation on the port at Marsden Point. The Debarker is a large piece of machinery that receives logs at one end and strips the bark off the logs to then exit the logs at the other end of the plant. Located in a control room the operator will monitor the progress of logs through the Debarker and take action should there be any jams or equipment failure. This role suits someone who is comfortable with routine-based work, takes pride in consistency, and understands the importance of maintaining safe, efficient operations.

In addition to monitoring and operating the plant, the role includes hands-on tasks such as assisting with minor mechanical maintenance and carrying out general clean-up of the work area at the end of each shift. This is a practical role that combines observation, mechanical awareness, and light to moderate manual work.

The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

Experience in a forestry or sawmill environment would be desirable but not essential
Computer Literacy
Strong Health and Safety focus
Reliability and can work unsupervised
Good communication skills
Mechanical aptitude and an interest in understanding how machinery operates
Full Class1 licence is required
Permanent and casual roles are available - please indicate which is your preference. Permanent employment offers a minimum of 40 hours per week. Flexibility with hours is required as this is a seven day a week operation. The successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screen, as well as criminal records checks.
