Purpose of the Role

To provide excellent customer service and product knowledge to trade and retail customers at the plumbing and heating trade counter. The role involves processing sales, offering technical advice, maintaining stock, and supporting the smooth and efficient running of the branch.

Key Responsibilities

· Greet and serve trade and retail customers in a professional and friendly manner.

· Provide advice on plumbing and heating products, fittings, and solutions.

· Generate and process customer orders via the trade counter, phone, and email.

· Ensure the trade counter and displays are well-presented, stocked, and merchandised.

· Handle customer enquiries, quotations, and returns efficiently.

· Build and maintain strong relationships with trade customers to encourage repeat business.

· Assist with stock control, checking deliveries, and keeping accurate records.

· Support branch sales targets by promoting special offers, upselling, and cross-selling products.

· Work closely with warehouse and delivery teams to ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.

· Maintain health & safety standards in the workplace.

Skills & Experience Required

· Previous experience in a plumbing & heating trade counter, builder’s merchant, or similar sales/customer service environment (preferred).

· Knowledge of plumbing and heating products, fittings, and associated trades.

· Strong customer service and communication skills.

· Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with a proactive, can-do attitude.

· Good numeracy and IT skills.

· Team player with the ability to build rapport with customers.

· Full driving licence may be advantageous.
