Cloud Software Developer

At Tarana, you will help build a cutting-edge cloud product -- a management system for wireless networks, scaling to millions of devices -- using modern cloud-native architecture and open-source technologies. You will be responsible for designing and implementing distributed software in a microservices architecture. This could include everything from requirements gathering (working with Product Management and customers) to high-level design to implementation, integrations, operations troubleshooting, performance tuning and scaling.

You will work as a key member of a devops-style team that owns one or more services, end-to-end. There will be PoCs, customer pilots, and production releases, all in an agile engineering environment. Expect to be challenged and stretch your skills on a daily basis. Expect to meet or beat exacting standards of quality and performance. We will provide the right mentoring to make sure that you can succeed.

The job is based in Pune, but for exceptional candidates who cannot relocate, we will consider remote-working arrangements with travel to Pune as required.

Tarana Wireless was founded in 200+ to research, develop, and commercialize at mass scale a whole new take on wireless access. It is powered by the efforts of smart PhDs from advanced radio architecture research teams (first from Berkeley, then from several other leading universities), along with Silicon Valley wireless industry pioneers with decades of deep experience in multi-radio systems. We're building a wireless broadband solution that includes the RF devices as well as cloud-based SaaS software for operating and managing large networks.

Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science or a closely-related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in backend software development, in product companies and/or tech startups.
• Experience with building SaaS product offerings will be a plus.
• Experience with not just developing, but also operating and managing such systems would be a plus.

Skill Requirements
• Software development in Java and its associated ecosystem (e.g., Spring Boot, Hibernate, etc.).
• Microservices and RESTful APIs: design, implementation and consumption.
• Conceptual knowledge of distributed systems -- clustering, asynchronous messaging, streaming, scalability & performance, data consistency, high availability, etc.
• Good understanding of databases (relational, NoSQL, search engines), caching, and distributed persistence technologies.
• Experience with cloud-native platforms like Kubernetes, service-mesh technologies like Istio will be a big plus.
