Glasswash|Autoclave Technician

Here at Avantor, we are looking for a Glasswash/Autoclave Technician to join the business on a full-time permanent basis. This role will directly support all routine laboratory housekeeping procedures on site.

In this role, you will support with the preparations and wind-downs of daily operational activity in the laboratory, including equipment testing, labelling activities, glassware cleaning and waste management.

Location: Cambridge, CB21 6GH

Working hours: Monday - Friday core hours

What you'll do on a day to day basis:
• Liaise with Scientific Preparation team on washing issues and ensure all glass/plasticware items are readily available for them when required
• Responsible for scientific Glass Wash for the AKB & Milstein buildings.
• Operation of industrial glass wash machines, updating service dashboard with metrics
• Responsible for autoclaving porous goods and biological hazardous waste
• Preventative maintenance and cleaning of tissue culture hoods and potentially some other equipment in the laboratory
• Help the Laboratory Technicians with the unpacking and packing of laboratory coats on collection/delivery days

What you'll need to be successful:
• GCSE Maths and English and an interest in Science
• Full training will be given, however any experience in a laboratory environment is desirable
• Ability to work as part of a team, as well as being self-motivated, and being able to use initiative
• Ability to understand and follow Health & Safety instructions. A commitment to quality standards and the importance of following procedures
• Customer Service experience - good temperament, polite and courteous and with good communication skills (written and verbal)
• Computer literate
