About the position
GEMS Modern Academy, Kochi's first authorized Cambridge / IB PYP school has been thoughtfully constructed to provide a learning environment that’s filled with opportunities to discover, explore and have fun. As the school continues to grow, we are looking for an outstanding, creative and passionate Assistant Librarian for the whole school. Successful applicants will have the following:
• Bachelor degree in any discipline. A degree/diploma in Library Science will be an added advantage.
• Proven experience as a Librarian in an international school setting is strongly desired
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills is needed to work closely with students and parents.
• Energetic, driven, creative, and dependable.
• Demonstrate patience
• Aspiration to work in a world class school with real prospects for enhancing their career.
• A creative and enthusiastic approach both in and out of the classroom.

Key Responsibilities
• Embrace and encourage the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS Core Values.
• Working with the Head of Library:
• Establish and implement library and information policies and procedures.
• Provide convenient, accessible library and information services.
• Develop and manage cost-effective library and information services, technology and media.
• Analyze and evaluate library and information services, technology and media service requirements
• Prepare reports related to library and information services, technology and media services, resources and activities.,
• Ensure the library environment is kept tidy and that displays enhance the library experience for the students and promote reading.
• Support teachers in providing class library sessions that help to develop library skills and promote reading.
