shrimp Farm Technician

Job Description

The shrimp technician will be in charge of making sure that shrimp farming activities are managed effectively and efficiently. He will work with the farm manager to carry out the fam activities in a smooth manner. He will be responsible to manage the following end to end activities – Pond preparation, communicate with the hatchery for transporting seed on or before stocking, feed management, health management, harvest management.

Qualifications- BA in Aquaculture

Skills

- Experience in shrimp farming or aquaculture.

- Knowledge of water quality management, feed management, disease control, and harvesting techniques.

- Ability to operate and maintain farm equipment.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Strong record-keeping skills.

- Good physical health and ability to work in outdoor environments

- proficiency in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam launguages

- should be farmer friendly

- should be able to stand on feet atleast for 4 hours in hot and humid weather

Job roles and responsibilities

1. Assist with the daily operation of shrimp farms, which includes keeping an eye on feeding, disease control, and harvesting procedures as well as water quality.

2. Maintain equipment, such as pumps, aerators, and feeding systems, on a regular basis. Should be well versed to test the water parameters.

3. Record and report data on water quality, feed usage, shrimp growth, and disease incidence.

4. Provide training to other team members on shrimp farming techniques and best practices.

5. Identifying and reporting signs of aquatic diseases, pests or predators.

6. Monitoring growth of shrimps and grading fish.

7. preparing for Harvesting shrimps and sorting and packing for transportation.

8. should stay at the ponds and be responsible to monitor the ponds as per the company's SOP's and protocols.
