Internship Training and Hiring Program for Freshers

A GIS (Geographic Information Systems) intern is responsible for assisting the data analyst team on project management operations, data processing procedures, and advocacy program planning. GIS interns shadow all the processes of the organization, performing administrative and clerical duties under the supervision of a direct manager.

They also assist with developing strategic procedures for process improvement and product development.

A GIS intern should have excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to multitask and learn tasks within strict deadlines.

GIS INTERNSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage client data and perform database extraction regularly to make timely data updates.

Code custom python script tools to manipulate data sets and produce maps for analysis and presentations.

Utilize ModelBuilder to create tools that automate routine and bulk tasks; explore python language to develop similar scripts.

Used survey-precision GPS equipment to update municipal asset data.

Determine the location, documentation and digitizing of construction/as-built drawings.

Research and develop ways of incorporating LiDAR and Landsat imagery.

Create extremely accurate and detail campus maps utilizing GPS technology in a GIS environment.

Map creation and editing from the digitization and extraction from aerial photography and commercial imagery.

Perform raster analysis/surface creation, spatial statistics, grid creation/contouring, editing/ digitizing and updating existing projects to meet client standards.

Imagine, design, and develop a population estimation and visualization application to illustrate the makeup of populations surrounding regulate facilities.

Develop, document and design integrity management software using Java, SQL and an oracle database to pragmatically solve data needs.

Work extensively with enterprise GIS to utilize ArcGIS server and map publishing.

Administer the Unix base GIS (ArcStorm) database.

Administer multiple NT servers configure using TCP/IP, NetBEUI and DHCP with transparent UNIX interoperability.

Develop standardized work-flow processes for producing non-regulatory spatial mapping and analysis products for FEMA.

Automate GIS/Geoscience workflows for data manipulation activities and cartographic deliverables using ModelBuilder.
