We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Android Developer to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Android Developer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining Android applications for newspapers. Your expertise in Kotlin and Java, along with your proficiency in APIs, will contribute to the success of our projects. This position is based in India, with the option for remote work, but we prefer candidates who can access our office in Pune occasionally.

Responsibilities
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop robust Android applications for newspapers, adhering to best practices and quality standards. - Take ownership of the entire development lifecycle, from ideation and design to implementation and deployment. - Write efficient, maintainable, and reusable code in Kotlin and Java. - Ensure the performance, scalability, and security of Android applications.
• Conduct thorough code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior developers.
• Stay up to date with the latest Android trends, tools, and technologies, and incorporate them into development processes.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues and bugs in a timely manner.
• Optimize application performance and improve user experience.
• Continuously improve development processes and suggest innovative ideas for product enhancements.

Skills
• Proven track record of at least 5 years as an Android Developer, with a strong portfolio of successful Android applications.
• Expertise in Android development using Kotlin and Java.
• Solid understanding of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes and resolutions.
• Experience working with RESTful APIs and integrating them into Android applications.
• Proficient in Android Studio and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Strong knowledge of software design principles, patterns, and best practices.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Familiarity with the newspaper industry or media applications is a plus.

Skills – Desirable
• Experience in developing production apps that support payments
• Experience in developing mobile applications in iOS
• Experience in developing mobile applications in Flutter
• Familiarity with Dart, Objective C
• Familiarity with JSON feed structure, parsing JSON feeds and storing JSON in data models.
• Familiarity with XCode, Visual Studio, SQL databases and LINGQ
• Knowledge of the App Store Connect submission process
• Understanding of App design and development best practice
• A proven track record of app development and/or current examples in store

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
