Job Description

Organization Description: Jaipur Rugs is a social enterprise that connects rural craftsmanship with global markets through its luxurious handmade carpets. It is a family run business that offers an exclusive range of hand-knotted and hand-woven rugs made using 2500 years old traditional art form.

The founder, Mr. Nand Kishore Chaudhary created a unique business model, which provides livelihood to the artisans at their doorstep. This changed the standard practice of involving middlemen to work with artisanal communities. The company currently has a network of over 40,000 artisans spread across 600 rural Indian villages in five states of India. It has an end-to-end business model, right from sourcing of wool to exporting a finished handmade rug.

The modern and eclectic collection of rugs, made using the finest wool and silk, has won numerous global awards and is currently exported to more than 45 countries with the US sales arm, Jaipur Living, Inc. located in Georgia, Atlanta.

Job Description: The specific responsibilities of the position holder will be (though not restricted to) the following:
• Create and implement best practice purchasing vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance.
• Take ownership of the purchasing policy, guidelines and any associated documents.
• Ensure that purchasing strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets.
• Conducting joint study with various end-users for technical evaluation of requirement and developing various negotiation strategies for discussion with suppliers.
• Spearheading procurement of raw material, mechanical equipment, machinery parts and drawing based items; scheduling agreement and services requirement needed for plant operation and maintenance.
• Finalizing AMC, service level agreements with OEMs, monitoring and reviewing CAPEX, revenue items and preparing MIS.
• Establishing contact with vendor through continuous follow-up, resolving issues, monitoring PO progress, co-ordinate inspection visit to expedite material delivery, supplier audit.
• Ensuring:
• Timely closure of PRs and POs within stipulated time for the assigned categories.
• Purchases are from approved supplier list/ genuine sources.
• Ensure strong communication between teams under leadership to facilitate exchange of information and in order to implement change and improvements.
• Responsible for developing the appropriate organizational structure, resource plans and culture to support the business objectives and customer deliverables.
• Provide leadership, coordination and coaching to the team, ensuring they are trained enabling them to achieve the operational and financial metrics within their areas of responsibility and succeed in their roles.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance
• Identify cost reduction opportunities to achieve financial goals

Academic and Professional Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in a relevant commercial or engineering discipline.
• Demonstrable experience of 8-12 years in leading a purchasing function with a proven track record in strategic purchasing leadership delivering effective purchasing strategies, policies, processes and systems.
• Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements.
• Proven contract management and supplier experience.
• Experience of operating and influencing at a strategic level.
• Knowledge and technical understanding of automotive processes and components and supply chain management.
• Proficient in MS Excel and MS word.
