Job Description

The Role: Assistant Editor, Global Insurance

Grade (relevant for internal applicants only): 8

The Location: Gurgaon, Islamabad

The Team: The successful candidate will be an integral part of our Global Insurance news team, which covers all aspects of the insurance industry across the world.

The Impact: Insurance has a significant and long-standing client and reader base. Our readers expect S&P Global Market Intelligence to provide information and deliver Insurance news content that they cannot get anywhere else. The candidate’s work will be widely read by important industry stakeholders, including regulators and members of the C-suite, as lenders, investors and others with an interest in the insurance industry. Just to make the point that our readers are in the insurance and outside looking in.

What’s In It For You
• Learn and exercise journalism skills including interviewing, data analysis, writing and editing
• Be trained to cover Insurance markets across the globe
• Variety of writing and editing tasks ranging from briefs from press releases and regulatory filings to long-form proprietary articles
• Be part of a global team of journalists and editors passionate about news.

Responsibilities
• Write and edit Global Insurance news stories
• Cover important earnings conference calls, legislative and regulatory meetings
• Engage with sources across the industry and work with our Data Journalism team to write and edit proprietary news stories.
• Division between writing and editing will be based on daily workflow. News is always breaking and the industry is always evolving; we need a candidate that is ready and willing to adapt
• Basic data work - extracting, analyzing and visualizing financial, regulatory and market data for use in stories.

What We’re Looking For
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• Writing and editing qualifications and / or experience in journalism is preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Excellent communication skills
• Preferred Qualifications: Journalism degree
• Interest in / experience of writing about the Insurance industry
• This role will be following the night shift.
