Lab Technician

· Collect, receive, and label specimens such as blood, urine, tissues, or other biological samples.
· Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of specimens to maintain sample integrity.
· Conduct a variety of routine and specialized laboratory tests, experiments, and analyses.
· Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.
· Perform quality control checks on equipment and testing procedures to maintain accuracy and precision.
· Monitor and validate test results to ensure adherence to established standards.
· Record and document test results, observations, and other relevant data accurately.
· Maintain detailed records of laboratory procedures and findings.
· Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
· Troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance to ensure proper functioning.
· Adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper disposal of hazardous materials.
· Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
· Collaborate with other laboratory staff, researchers, and healthcare professionals to achieve common goals.
· Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
· Utilize analytical skills to interpret and analyse test results.
· Recognize and troubleshoot problems or inconsistencies in results.
· Identify and resolve issues with laboratory equipment and instruments.
· Report equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
· Manage and maintain laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables.
· Compliance:
· Ensure compliance with laboratory regulations, standards, and safety guidelines.
· Stay informed about updates and changes in laboratory practices and protocols.
· Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, colleagues, and sometimes with patients.
· Prepare and present reports on laboratory findings.
· Provide support for research projects by conducting laboratory experiments and analyses.
· Assist researchers in collecting and processing data.
· Stay updated on advancements in laboratory technology, methodologies, and relevant scientific literature.
· Participate in professional development activities and training programs.
· Uphold ethical standards in research, testing, and interactions with colleagues and patients.
· Maintain confidentiality of patient information and laboratory findings.
