Summary: The Senior Accountant will report to the Controller and be responsible for general accounting operations ranging from reconciling account balances to performing month-end and year-end closings, with opportunity for growth. On a monthly basis, financial statements are produced and analyzed to identify opportunities for income or expense improvement. Position will perform a variety of accounting projects and primarily support the Controller with all aspects of the accounting department, including reconciliations, fixed assets, cost accounting and process improvements. This position will also interact with other departments to gather and distribute information to improve and maintain good communication between departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Responsible for complex accounting activities supporting the accurate and timely closing of the general ledger.

· Perform analysis and reconciliation of complex general ledger accounts.

· Prepare Monthly Journal Entries for assigned responsibilities as required.

· Research and process corrections affecting the Financial Statements.

· Interact with key management to gather information, prepare work papers and supporting documentation, and resolve assigned task related problems.

· Assist with annual company budget, external financial review, and income tax filings.

· Complete related PBC schedules and provide requested materials.

· Determine cost of operations by collecting, interpreting, and reporting data.

· Assist in monitoring cash flow and other financial transactions.

· Support Controller with special projects and preparation of financial reports.

· Work under minimal supervision with latitude for independent judgement.

· Maintain accurate accounting records, work papers and reports in both ERP system and shared files in an efficient and organized manner.

· Provide back-up to other accounting staff and cross-train in other accounting areas/activities, as necessary and perform other miscellaneous duties as required.

· Follow internal policies and procedures. Recommend, develop and implement updates related to assigned duties through thorough analysis and best practice research.

Knowledge, skills and/or abilities:

Knowledge:

· Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and GAAP, and financial accounting statements

· Advance Proficiency-Microsoft Office Suite

Skills:

· Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management.

· Have skills necessary to create and present information to a variety of audiences.

Abilities:

· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

· Team player and ability to collaborate with other teams in the organization.

· Analyze financial data and create reports to inform others of results.

· Ability to establish good working relationships with all business units.

· Advance Excel skills (i.e. VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables etc.) and knowledge of general ledger functions, bank reconciliations and general accounting procedures.

· State and Federal Tax knowledge and filing experience.

Education and/or Experience:

· Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.

· Experience with inventory/cost accounting and familiarity with a manufacturing environment.

· Advanced degree in Accounting and/or Finance.

· Relevant certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) will be preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $6+,000.00 - $+2,000.00 per year
