Housing Kitsap is committed to providing affordable housing and building connections within our community throughout Kitsap County. We are looking for a talented and motivated Property Accountant to join our team.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITES
• Process tenant accounts receivable (TAR) and non-tenant accounts receivable; Works closely with property/project team to help reconcile tenant accounts/ledgers
• Reviews entries on a daily basis, solving any discrepancies as necessary in a timely manner
• Process account payable entries
• Process security deposit check requests within the scheduled deadline
• Process write-offs and collections
• Process monthly loan payments
• Tracks delinquency/aging and contacts property/project team accordingly
• Assist team in the preparation of annual budgets.
• Prepare and distribute managerial reports to all members of the property/project team.
• Participates in preparing and auditing materials requiring analysis of supporting documents and ensures that all entries are entered into the system properly
• Provides support by receiving, reviewing, and verifying financial documents and reports for accuracy and adherence to legal mandates, policies, and operational guidelines.
• Posts and maintains various ledgers, vouchers, and journals according to established account classifications related to assigned Housing Authority program(s).
• Prepare reports on the status of services, accounts receivable/payable, and collections.
• Audits and reviews financial documents for accuracy and completeness; prepares basic monthly journal entries and cash receipt vouchers; performs bookkeeping work such as posting to ledgers, journals, and registers; coding documents.
• Responds to requests for information and questions relating to accounts receivable/payable, collections, reporting, and general information from vendors, clients/tenants, and representatives of other housing agencies; researches account histories and other information and take or recommend appropriate follow-up action to clients and/or other departments/agency staff.
• Assist in the preparation of a variety of reports including those required by Federal and State agencies; prepares mathematical calculations and verify computations.
• Provides support by researching and resolving difficult problems, independently through multiple records; takes initiative in anticipating or identifying problems or errors and follows up to resolve. Forecasts impact of potential actions/decisions.
• Prepares or assists in the preparation of various reports where initiative is required in order to make modifications of format and procedure to bring the structure and content of documents into agreement/balance.
• Reconciles general ledgers, logs, and other fiscal records; reviews data to locate and determine causes of variances between accounting reports/statements and coordinates resolution.
• Works as part of a "property or project team" including, but not limited to property managers, co-directors of property management, compliance personnel, and the executive director to ensure the seamless exchange of information of accurate financial information.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• College-level accounting training, business /public administration, or related field.
• One (1) year of clerical accounting and records management experience including double-entry bookkeeping.
