Job Description

Job Summary The Director of Finance and Accounting is a member of the Porter Medical Center Management Team and collaborates with organizational leaders to ensure effective application of appropriate professional standards, policies and procedures, and staffing across finance functions and, if applicable, any other assigned functions. The Director of Finance and Accounting is responsible for optimizing evidence-based practice and reliable operational processes and policies across finance in support of the mission and vision of Porter Medical Center and The University of Vermont Health Network. This role's work is focused on ensuring compliant and customer-focused patient and organizational financial and business systems and processes. Work toward this end is accomplished through collaborative relationships with senior leaders and managers. The Director of Finance and Accounting is a member of the CFO Leadership Team and works closely with its members, other management, and Medical Staff in meeting strategic, clinical, operational and financial priorities. The Director of Finance and Accounting works in close collaboration with the CFO in directing, coordinating and carrying out all financial management functions of the organization, with a principal focus on accounting, internal audit functions, financial reporting, and oversight of payroll and accounts payable functions. The Director of Finance and Accounting is responsible for monitoring and maintaining financial information in accordance with GAAP, maintaining compliance with the AICPA's Health Care Audit Guide, and staying current with all financial pronouncements. The Director of Finance and Accounting is responsible for managing the organization's accounting software applications and interfaces. This role is responsible for all tax compliance issues affecting Porter Medical Center, including the timely filing for Form ++0 and required schedules. The Director of Finance and Accounting directs the day to day operations of the finance and accounting operations.
Qualifications Education:
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Further credentialing (CPA, CMA, CFA) is a plus.
Experience:
Requires 7 - 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience including supervision of teams or individual staff. The ideal candidate will have a background in Healthcare or Critical Access Hospital finance. Experience in hiring, developing, and coaching staff; a clear track record of building a high performing team through talent management. Knowledge/Special Skills:
Position requires excellent analytic and communication skills and demonstrated aptitude at coaching others in financial management and analyses. Must have working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, advanced computer, database, and spreadsheet skills, and extensive experience at interpreting analytical results for management and providing recommendations on business problems.
Salary Range:
$150K -- $200K
Minimum Qualification
Accounting, Corporate FinanceEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
