Primary Duties & Responsibilities
• Assist with monthly close activities to ensure process is completed accurately and on a timely basis.
• Prepare and enter Journal Entries in ERP system, as required.
• Ensure that accounting transactions are properly approved, well supported, and leave a clean and clear audit trail.
• Prepare select General Ledger account reconciliations.
• Maintain and reconcile bookings, shipments and backlog for all Coherent Ceramics locations.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of all current Generally Accepted Accounting Principles applicable to Coherent Ceramics.
• Understand and effectively utilize the company’s ERP System.
• Exercise responsibility for the accumulation of data, analysis and interpretation of working papers, and report preparation requiring the use of independent judgment.
• Assist with internal and external audits to ensure all auditor requests are fulfilled on a timely basis.
• Analyze work order variances and coordinate with Division Controller to resolve issues, as necessary, to the inventory and manufacturing costs.
• Assist with standard cost maintenance.
• Prepare monthly cost accounting journal entries, as required.
• Reconcile perpetual and work-in-process inventories on a monthly basis.
• Review inventory accuracy efforts (cycle counts) and reporting (WIP values).
• Monitor and review fixed assets.
• Prepare monthly fixed asset roll forward schedules.
• Report additions, dispositions and status of CIP projects
• Oversee accuracy of Fixed Asset sub-ledger including associated depreciation accounts.
• Department processes are reviewed/audited for continuous improvement and cycle time reduction opportunities.
• Records, reports and metrics are accurate and on time.
• A high standard of ethics, professionalism, competency, and quality is established and maintained.
• Maintain the privacy of the firm’s financial information.
• Manage annual Physical Inventory efforts.
• Assist with annual Standard Cost Change process.
• Maintain computer files related to responsibilities on the company’s computer network.
• Provide financial analysis of special projects as requested.
• Assist with all financial planning and forecasting activities.
• Report on projects and make recommendations to upper Management.
• Effectively perform and support other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

Minimum of Bachelor degree required in either Accounting or Finance
• 10+ years Cost Accounting experience including:
• experience in a manufacturing environment with companies equal to in size or larger than Coherent Ceramics
• significant general ledger accounting experience
• Financial planning and budgeting experience highly desirable
• Experience with problem analysis and resolution
• Demonstrated ability to achieve results independently or working with others
• Ability to recommend and implement improvements
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience with networked PC based computer system (MS Office, spreadsheets, Email, MRP systems, and accounting software).

Working Conditions
• This position is on site
• May require occasional off-site meetings or travel
• Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary
• Interaction with team members and external contacts is a regular part of the job
• May require occasional overtime and flexibility in work hours to accommodate the executive’s needs

Physical Requirements
• Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or conducting meetings.
• Use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
• Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds for administrative tasks.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Mobility within the office environment to attend meetings or interact with colleagues

Safety Requirements

All employees are required to attend scheduled training, follow the site EHS procedures and Corporate EHS standards. This includes the use of proper protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job responsibilities.

Managers will ensure that all safety and environmental procedures are followed consistently. They will ensure that risk assessments are performed, proper training, work instructions, required PPE is available, and will monitor compliance.

All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards.

Quality And Environmental Responsibilities

Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO +000, +001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
