We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Contract Accountant to join our dynamic team on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Oversee the accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, providing insights and variance analysis.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and explanations during audits.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations, preparing and filing tax returns as required.
• Monitor and analyze cost structures, providing recommendations for cost optimization.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function.
• Participate in special projects and ad hoc analyses as required by management.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the logistics or transportation industry.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Working Conditions:
• Hybrid work environment (2-3 days/week in office).
• Office located in Augusta, GA.
• Temporary contract position with potential for extension based on performance and business needs.
