My client, an international manufacturing company, is looking to hire a strong Senior Cost Accountant. The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory costs and providing cost analysis to support operations and sales in contributing to the company’s success. The position will also assist in creating and maintaining product pricing for standard and nonstandard products. The Senior Cost Accountant will also participate in the budget and forecasting process and will report to the Controller.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for analyzing manufacturing activities and investigating variances and anomalies to ensure accurate inventory costing.
• Analyze monthly cost variances and cost of goods sold accounts to provide understanding of gross margin performance.
• Maintain and update inventory rates, as necessary.
• Develop, improve and maintain product estimating processes to support accurate pricing for standard, custom and developing products.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Marketing on estimating/pricing and cost reduction projects.
• Prepare month-end journal entries that relate to inventory.
• Manage local budgeting and forecasting variance analysis, and KPI reporting tasks.
• Develop and analyze cost center financial reports.
• Collaborate with operations and sales to understand and act on financial performance.
• Support process improvement initiatives, as required.
• Provide support for other financial analysis projects as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• BS in Accounting or Finance.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting concepts.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Efficient communication skills, adaptable for collaborating across departments and functions.
• Proficient Excel skills.
